Videos – CAT uses Applied Theatre techniques to discover issues and structure story elements, develop treatments, and create story-boards for videos that lead audiences to explore their own situations and imagine positive transformation. Videos maximize participant participation – from writing and acting to behind the camera work – and allow for repeated sharing with others. We will write Study Guides and develop activity lists for each video to promote interaction with the audience if the group wants them. See the Video section in Representative Projects for some examples of our video work with young people.
Graphic Storybooks – Storybooks provide a unique way of recording dynamized images and Forum-like explorations of choices. CAT works with young people to develop and storyboard stories through a variety of TO and related techniques. Improvisations yield an examination of problems and a variety of solution possibilities. The books include several interventions and comments or questions about them. These are documented in manipulated photos to which the young people add narration and dialogue. The young participants’ creative achievements are literally in their hands and their work provides a legacy.
